The Rev. Gregory O. Brewer
rector of
Calvary-St. George’s Church
in New York City

The Office of the Episcopal Church
Presiding Bishop Katherine Schori
has notified the Diocese of Central Florida
that Bishop-Elect Brewer has received
the required majority of consents
in the canonical consent process.

As Jesus said, `My house will be called a house of prayer,'
Lord, You are continuing to build 'this house' [this diocese] in Central Florida.
As it is writien in psalm 127:1
Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it.

Help us, Holy Spirit, to offer prayers for the new bishop as he prepares to lead the diocese.
And prayers of thanks for Bishop Howe for all of his blessing and ministry these 22 years.
We humbly pray this by faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

The fourth bishop of Central Florida will succeed the Right Reverend John W. Howe,
who has announced his retirement as diocesan bishop.

The Rev. Brewer preached at the Cathedral Church on January 22, 2012

and to be in all things a faithful pastor and wholesome example for the entire flock of Christ.”
