The
Orlando Deanery Boychoir and Girls Choir
are founded on European models and affiliated
with the Royal School of Church Music in England.
This music outreach program of the Cathedral
Church of St. Luke in downtown Orlando serves
the community, nation & world.
Creating beautiful
music of the highest standards,
the choirs develop musicianship,
vocal skills, teamwork, responsibility, leadership,
courtesy, respect for other
cultures, poise and professionalism.
Performances include civic festivals, opera and
symphony,
charity concerts, private parties, weddings,
religious
services, conventions, TV commercials and
Disney events, often with prominent local orchestras.

As cultural ambassadors of the United States and
the
City of Orlando, we have toured Japan, England,
Ireland,
Wales, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic,
Canada, New
York City (and Carnegie Hall),
Washington DC, Niagara
Falls, New England, the Bahamas, Florida, Atlanta, Nashville
and New Orleans.
Tours are funded entirely by
fundraising efforts and
individual and corporate contributions. Tours play
an integral part in our musical education,
cultural
enrichment, and outreach mission.
The choirs are currently preparing for their tour
to England in August, 2012.

We are very proud

was issued a special invitation
and performed in the
East Wing of the White House
in Washington D.C.
for a 2-hour concert
on December 20, 2011.

Biographies
|

Benjamin
Lane |
Ben
Lane is the Canon Musician at the Cathedral Church of St.
Luke, where he has directed a diverse music ministry since
1991. As the director of several concert series and many
choirs, including the Orlando Deanery Boychoir, his concerts
are broadcast occasionally on Orlando’s classical
public radio station. Each year his choirs tour to cathedrals
and concert halls in places such as England, Central Europe,
Japan, Canada, New York City, Washington, the Bahamas, all
over Florida and the eastern US.
Canon Lane chaired the Diocesan
Liturgy and Music Commission of the Episcopal Diocese of
Central Florida. He also serves as Diocesan Coordinator
and as a faculty member for the nationally acclaimed Leadership
Program for Musicians, offering continuing education for
professional church musicians. He is also the Chaplain for
the Central Florida Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. He has recorded eight CDs
with Saint Luke’s choirs. |

Canon
Lane has served churches in Chicago and Wisconsin, and previously
taught
and directed music at Nashotah House Episcopal Seminary
near Milwaukee. He holds degrees in organ and church music
from the University of Southern Mississippi and Northwestern
University. He studied musicology for a Ph.D. at the University
of Chicago. His compositions include choral, vocal, and
liturgical works, and some are published by St. James Press. |

Claire Hodge
|
Claire Hodge, soprano, is a private voice teacher with over thirty years experience as soloist, teacher, conductor, clinician and vocal coach. A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Claire has enjoyed performing with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Pops Orchestra under renowned conductors.
Claire currently directs the Orlando Deanery Girls Choir working closely with Canon Benjamin Lane and the Orlando Deanery Boychoir at The Cathedral Church of St. Luke. Together, the choirs have toured Canada, Austria, Germany, The Czech Republic and
the United States under her direction since 1999. In conjunction with her work with the choir, Claire has served as voice teacher and vocal coach for summer courses with the Royal School of Church Music in America in New York City, Boston, North Carolina, and Alabama.
Claire is excited to be working under the direction of Janice Stieber Rous with whom she is learning Janice’s technique, Body Dialogue, to bring a new level of body awareness and breathing coordination to help singers gain more confidence, control, resonance,
and freedom while singing. She is currently teaching private voice lessons in southwest Orlando as well as downtown Orlando. |
