Canon Musician
Benjamin Lane

Ben Lane is the Canon Musician at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke, where he has directed a diverse music ministry since 1991. As the director of several concert series and many choirs, including the Orlando Deanery Boychoir, his concerts are broadcast occasionally on Orlando’s classical public radio station. Each year his choirs tour to cathedrals and concert halls in places such as England, Central Europe, Japan, Canada, New York City, Washington, the Bahamas, all over Florida and the eastern US.

Canon Lane chaired the Diocesan Liturgy and Music Commission of the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida. He also serves as Diocesan Coordinator and as a faculty member for the nationally acclaimed Leadership Program for Musicians, offering continuing education for professional church musicians. He is also the Chaplain for the Central Florida Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. He has recorded eight CDs with Saint Luke’s choirs.

Canon Lane has served churches in Chicago and Wisconsin, and previously taught
and directed music at Nashotah House Episcopal Seminary near Milwaukee. He holds degrees in organ and church music from the University of Southern Mississippi and Northwestern University. He studied musicology for a Ph.D. at the University of Chicago. His compositions include choral, vocal, and liturgical works, and some are published by St. James Press.
