Library

Welcome to the C. Arthur Yergey Memorial Library
The Yergey Library is located off the balcony of the Education Building, overlooking the courtyard. It serves not only the Cathedral parish, but all congregations in the Diocese. New borrowers are requested to complete a Registration Form, found on the Librarian’s desk.

The Librarian is available on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. At other times, visitors must apply for admittance at the Reception Desk in the Cathedral Office.

Books may be borrowed for three weeks. They may be renewed unless there are reserves. Rare books and reference works do not circulate. Reference books and periodicals may be read in the Reading Room.

The Collection

This Library has been endowed by the Yergey family in memory of C. Arthur Yergey, a longtime Cathedral member and Senior Warden. The collection numbers about 5000 volumes. It comprises the Cathedral and Diocesan collections as well as the library of the former World Center for Liturgical Studies, probably the most complete liturgical collection in the Southeast.

The comprehensive theological collection includes most versions of the Bible, commentaries, a wide selection of books relation to Christianity, Judaism, World Religions, the Church Fathers, and a set of the Babylonian Talmud.

There is also good coverage of such subjects as church history, prayer, the devotional life, spiritual healing, Biographies of religious leaders, and more.

A section is reserved for children’s books and recreational reading.
